On Sunday evening, July 6, thousands of users across India were left frustrated and disconnected as the Jio network went down, affecting both mobile signals and internet connectivity. Reports of “No Signal” and “Emergency Calls Only” lit up social media, with users from cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and many more unable to make calls or access mobile data for several hours.
The Jio network down incident began around 8:10 PM IST, with mobile phones across various cities suddenly showing blank signal bars. Downdetector, a real-time outage tracking platform, received over 11,000 reports within the first couple of hours. According to data from the site:

The outage lasted nearly 12 hours, with over 12,000 complaints registered in less than an hour. At that time, the company vaguely attributed the problem to a “software update failure.”
More recently, users in Gujarat (June 29) and Madhya Pradesh (July 1) also complained of network instability and data issues. Some even claimed they were without 4G access for more than two weeks.
These recurring problems raise serious concerns about the reliability of Jio’s network infrastructure and whether proper contingency measures are in place.
One of the biggest frustrations during the Jio network down event was the complete silence from the company. While users struggled with disconnected phones and frozen apps, Jio did not release any official explanation, apology, or restoration timeline.
Customer service lines were overwhelmed, and many users reported that even Jio’s helpline was not reachable. Those who managed to get through were told to “restart their device” or “toggle airplane mode”, a generic solution that did little to address the root cause.
